MONROE — The identification of a person found deceased in a Monroe waterway has yet to be released two days later.

According to Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley, at about 4:12 p.m., on Saturday, April 18, Monroe Police were called to the area of the 600 block of Wis. 69, which is in Monroe’s west side business area, for a body found in a creek.

Police and the Green County Coroner worked to secure the scene and identify the deceased. Police have said that the body is that of a man.

The investigation is in its initial stages as to a cause of death and identification. Police determined that there is no threat to the public safety of the community.

The investigation will continue by Monroe Police assisted by Green County Sheriff deputies, and the Green County Coroner’s Office.

Neither Kelley, nor the Coroner’s office were able to provide the Times the identity of the deceased prior to the press deadline on Monday, April 20.
