Black Hawk Excellence in Education grants awarded

SOUTH WAYNE - The South Wayne Community Fund awarded the 2015 Black Hawk Excellence in Education Fund Grant Awards at a recent meeting.

Black Hawk Elementary School was awarded the Ready To Read/Heidisongs and Words Their Way awards; Jacob's SWAG was awarded the Education Program/Suicide Prevention and Good Life Choices award; and Black Hawk Middle School was awarded the Community Outreach and Communication award.

The Black Hawk EIE Fund is an independent community organization that provides charitable resources to enhance educational programs in the Black Hawk school district. Anyone can make a contribution large or small to the fund. Contribution to the funds can be made to honor a loved one, favorite educator or community member, mark an anniversary or class reunion, or commemorate a special occasion.

The current advisor board includes Claire Obert, Rosann Markese, Becky Graham, Lisa Nelson, Chris Obert, Mavis Rood, Bruce Ruegsegger, Janeen Trame and Sonja Wolff.
