BELLEVILLE — Authorities were called to a vehicle vs. buildings crash last week, according to Belleville Police Chief Chris P. Hughes.

At 6:39 a.m. on Friday, March 14, Belleville police and fire responded to a report of a vehicle crash in the 100 block of West Main Street.  The investigation revealed an SUV was attempting a parking maneuver when it collided with a parked car. The SUV then traveled over the curb, striking two buildings before coming to rest against one of the buildings.

The parked compact sedan was occupied at the time of the crash. The driver of the sedan stated they struck their head on the steering wheel upon impact. The driver of the sedan declined EMS response. The driver of the SUV told police they were not injured.

Police determined the 91-year-old rural Belleville driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator pedal. The driver of the SUV was referred to the Wisconsin DOT to have their ability to safely operate a vehicle evaluated.
