October 3, 1923, a year of Cheese Days, this photo was taken from one of Will Trukenbrod’s glass negative collection.  It shows a float for Frank Buehler, who worked in plumbing and heating. Shown on the hood of the vehicle is his nephew, Charles Buehler, Jr, with his dog, and on the cab is Frank’s daughter Inez Buehler (Goecks).  Frank was also the mayor of Monroe for many years. It is unknown where the house in the background was located. If you can identify this home, please call Linda to identify.

The Green County Historical Society Museum is now closed for the season. We had a very successful summer with many events along with the open museum on weekends.  October 1 was our first “Local Authors Day” with four local authors attending for discussion and book signing.  Our next event will be November 6, a fundraising breakfast at the Monroe Moose from 8-12 pm. Please join us for an all you can eat breakfast.

On November 11 & 12, we will hold our second annual “Christmas Décor Sale” at the museum.  If you have any clean usable Christmas decorations that you would care to donate, please drop off at the museum any Monday morning from 9-12, or call 325-9730 and Linda will pick up.
