Paula Bahler, Monroe, talks about her best friends Dozer, a 4-year-old Rottweiler-boxer mix, and Jay, a 7-month-old pitbull.
Bahler found Dozer at an adoption event in Mukwonago for Hoovers Hause All Dog Rescue, a nonprofit that rescues and rehomes at-risk dogs brought from the south to Waukesha County. She said she liked his sweet and super mellow personality. “I knew right away,” Bahler said.
She got Jay from a friend as a spur of the moment decision. “He’s my wild child,” she said.

Describe Dozer and Jay’s personality.
Dozer is chill. He’s just a lover. Lazy. He just likes to sleep all day. I’ve never had any problems with him. He was the perfect puppy. He never gets into trouble and listens very well. He’s also very protective of Jay.
You just never know what to expect with Jay. He’s a handful. He’s either super sweet and wants to cuddle or he’s tearing something apart, barking or running around the house being wild. He’s given Dozer some confidence.
What do you like to do together?
I take them hiking a lot. They like to swim and they play together all day.
What has it been like having Dozer and Jay in your life?
It’s something to give me love. They give you unconditional love and they’re always there.
