Lane Meier, 12, Monroe, talks about his best friend Stacks, a 5-month-old ewe. Meier came up with the name Stacks because of his affinity for tractor pulls and the name refers to the stacks on top of the tractors. Meier is a part of the Next Generation 4-H club and this will be his fourth year showing sheep at the Green County Fair.
Describe Stacks personality.
She’s very curious and playful. She’ll come up to you and you can pet her. She’s very friendly and she’ll untie your shoelaces.
What do you like to do together?
I take her for walks in the mornings and give her breakfast. I walk her to the end of the driveway twice and then let her go and have her run up the hill to build muscle.
What has it been like having Stacks in your life?
She’s way different than all the other sheep I’ve had. They weren’t this curious or friendly. They just didn’t have the personality she has.

Describe 007’s personality.
He’s extremely stubborn and very strong-willed.
What do you like to do together?
Every morning we walk and run them so they gain muscle. At night, we walk them around and practice showmanship and bracing. You have to walk them with a brace and have them flex their muscles.
What has it been like have 007 in your life?
It’s been a lot of fun this year. He has an amazing personality and it’s been very challenging because of how strong he is and just trying to work with him.
