JUDA — After a hiatus of two years due to the pandemic, there will again be an Easter cantata held at the Juda Zion United Methodist Church. The presentations will be on Palm Sunday, April 10, and on Good Friday, April 15. Each performance will begin at 1:30 p.m.
The cantata titled, “Come to the Cross and Remember” is filled with music and images of Palms, the Cup, the Bread, the Nails, the Crown of Thorns, and more. These images are the centerpiece of the cantata. As they are brought forward they form a moving tableau during the choir interludes, which include the haunting melody of “Go To Dark Gethsemane”, the mournful “Surely He Has Borne Our Griefs”, the majestic “Every Knee Should Bow”, and many more.
Soloists are Rudy Kaderly, Gene Dobbins, Peggy Jordan, and Judy Kaderly. The narration is done by Kay Carter and Robert Severson Jr. Other cast members are Julie Davis, Nicole Ramirez, Beth Figi, Sharon Cruezer, Kim Shields, Bethany Woodward, JoAnn Dobbins, Sara Jordan, Joyce Hoesly, JoAnn Eberle, Pat Daniels, Steve Anderson, Jake Hoesly, Mark Woodward, Kalvin Kaderly, Dennis Pfingsten, Emerson Jordan, Justin Bolton, Justin Soddy, and Dakota Davis. The cantata is directed by Shelly Jordan. Brian Matzke is in charge of the lighting, Bill Jahn handles the sound system, and Mary Severson, Peggy Matzke and Rudy Kaderly are helping set the stage.
Zion Church is located at N2350 Church St. Juda. The public is invited to attend the performances. There is no admission charge.
