MONROE — If you’re looking for something fun, creative and totally cool for your child to do this winter then the Monroe Arts Center (MAC) has the perfect solution. MAC is now offering classes online for area students.
The popular MAC Youth Art class is moving virtually to Friday afternoons from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Jan. 15 through Feb. 19. In this art program, students in Kindergarten through fifth grade can continue to build their lifelong discovery, exploration and appreciation of the arts. During each of the six sessions, art instructor Lisa Beach will provide lessons using the Zoom platform in various aspects of art and art techniques. She will guide students through each project, while instilling creativity and expanding the imaginations of budding young artists.
In this class, children will practice various art forms from Origami to Collage and Charcoal Drawing to Design. The registration fee for all six classes is $45. All supplies will be included in the registration fee and will be available for pickup at the Monroe Arts Center.
Additionally, MAC will be offering Musical Adventure Camp classes. Students, ages 8 to 15 will work virtually with industry professional, Andy Hudson, to build a diverse set of theatre skills, focusing specifically on vocal performance, action through song and improv driven storytelling skills. The class will be offered on Saturdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 23 through Feb. 27. The registration fee for all six classes is $50.
By the end of this six-week long class, students will have strengthened their musical storytelling skills through individualized song coaching, collaboration on the creation and performance of a brand-new musical adventure story and participated in a virtual group performance that can be shared with family and friends.
