PLATTEVILLE - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Community Scholarship Program gives individuals the opportunity to support graduating high school seniors attending UWP with their gift to this program. By donating to a community high school of their choice, donors allow the UWP Foundation to grant scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are accepted to UWP from high schools that are participating in this program.

Lenita F. Stark, a resident of Gratiot, is pioneering the path for graduating seniors with her recent gift to the UW-Platteville Community Scholarship Program for Black Hawk High School. The UWP Foundation will use this gift to provide scholarships to graduates of Black Hawk High School who enroll at UWP.

As a supporter of this program, Stark has chosen to give back to the community where she got her educational start, ensuring that high school graduates of the Black Hawk community receive a college education. As to why Stark chose to support this program, she stated, "I taught at Black Hawk schools for 31 years and three of my children graduated from the Black Hawk school district."

Stark graduated from UWP with a bachelor's degree in education in 1972. She retired from teaching in 1998 and currently resides in Gratiot with her husband, Gary Stark.
