Community Brief

NEW GLARUS — This fall, the College Board released its National Rural and Small-Town Scholars as part of its recognition program. New Glarus High School had two students who were recognized as National Rural and Small-Town Scholars. Seniors Ben Copeland and Merrick Fong were both recognized as National Rural and Small-Town Scholars.

Students who are selected for this award need to have scored in the top 2.5% of the PSAT test takers who identify as one or more of the following: African American, Hispanic American or Latinx, Indigenous, or attend school in a rural area, or are from a small town. As a National Rural and Small-Town Scholar, the College Board works to help showcase those students to colleges and universities throughout the United States.
