DARLINGTON - The Memorial Healthcare Foundation Grants and Career Development Committee has selected five recipients for healthcare scholarships and one employee grant in 2010.
The $1,000 awards were given out July 20 during the quarterly MHF Board of Directors meeting.
Recipient Katie Corley, Darlington, is currently a student at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. Corley is the daughter of Tom and Cindy Corley, Darlington. She is a 2004 graduate of Darlington High School and a 2008 graduate of University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a bachelors of science degree in biology. Katie plans on pursuing a career in the area of cardiology.
Mallory Lindsay, Darlington, another recipient, is studying radiologic technology at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Mallory is the daughter of Jerry and Judy Lindsay, Darlington. Lindsay is a chair person of the Diagnostic Imaging Student Association and a member of Future Health Care Executives at UW-Milwaukee. She also volunteers weekly in the Emergency Department of Elmbrook Memorial Hospital. Mallory will begin her clinicals in September at Columbia St. Mary's.
Kayla Spensley, Belmont, who will also receive a scholarship, is currently studying pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy. Kayla is the daughter of Phil and Shelley Spensley, Belmont.
Scholarship recipient Devon Wamsley, Darlington, is studying for a bachelors of nursing degree at the University of Phoenix. Wamsley is married to Bill Wamsley and is the daughter of Jim and Becky Taylor, Darlington. The Wamsleys have two daughters, Brynly, 3 and Harper, 1.
The final recipient, Aryn Wellnitz, South Wayne, is currently studying nursing at Edgewood College in Madison. She is the daughter of Tom and Donielle Wellnitz, South Wayne.
Ashley Ruf, RTR(CT), received a $1,000 employee grant from the MHF. Ruf is currently an X-ray technologist at MHLC and has recently completed an advanced course with clinicals, passed her advanced registry exam and is now registered in specialized CT procedures. She is the daughter of Dick and Carol Ruf, Darlington.
