Green County 4-H youth participate in Fair Cake Revue

MONROE — Members of the Green County 4-H Foods & Nutrition and Exploring projects recently participated in the Green County Fair Cake Revue on Saturday, April 30, at the Green County Justice Center. Cake Revue is considered a Pre-Fair event of the Green County Fair and is judged by a licensed fair judge with ribbons being awarded to the youth.

Youth are divided into four levels based on grade and can bring up to two items to be judged at the Cake Revue. Examples of project options this year were decorated cupcakes; character cakes from a mold; holiday themed cakes; and 2-tiered cakes.

This year’s participants were Brooke Berndt (Hiawatha), Aubrie Blum (Washington Center), Alexys Crooks (Washington Center), Mara Dickson (Browntown Busy Beavers), Skye Dickson (Browntown Busy Beavers), Jack Follett (Cheese Country Clovers), Peter Goers (Washington Center), Telina Gratz (Young Americans), Teresa Gratz (Young Americans), Isabella Johnson (Next Generation), Jacklyn Kubly (Next Generation), Grant McCullough (Next Generation), Molly McCullough (Next Generation), Whitney Pryce (Jolly Mixers), Myka Rufer (Next Generation), Kayla Sherman (Washington Center), Lillian Sievers (Clarence Bridge Pioneers), and Brandon Straws (Next Generation).

Best of Show Results were as follows: Level A/Grades 3-4 — Myka Rufer; Level B/Grades 5-6 — Molly McCullough; Level C/Grades 7-9 — Lillian Sievers; and Level D/Grades 10+ — Skye Dickson. The overall Merit Award was given to Lillian Sievers.
