Monroe UMC to hold combined Good Friday services
MONROE - Monroe United Methodist Church will hold a community Good Friday service at 7 p.m. March 30 at the church. The service will be led by pastors from Monroe Bible Church, Hope Evangelical Free Church, Crossroads Community Church, Monroe Nazarene Church and Monroe UMC.
Each pastor will examine an "I am" statement from Jesus, including "I am the Bread of Life" and "I am the Resurrection and the Life."
Special Easter program scheduled for children
MONROE - Resurrection Lutheran Church will be holding a special Easter program for children ages 3 through 10 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. March 24 at the church, 1603 16th Ave.
Children will hear a Bible story and participate in music, crafts and an Easter egg hunt.
Pre-registration is appreciated so the church can plan and prepare, but not necessary. Registration can be completed online at rlcverona.org or by calling 515-4334.

Clarno Zion UMC holding a pancake supper March 24
CLARNO - Clarno Zion United Methodist Church will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake supper from 4 to 7:30 p.m. March 24 at the church. The meal is free for ages 4 and under.
There also will be a bake sale and silent auction.

Easter breakfast to fund youth trip in Texas this June
ARGYLE - The combined churches of Applegrove and Yellowstone Lutheran churches will hold an Applestone Palm Sunday Breakfast from 8 to 10:45 a.m. March 25 in the Yellowstone Lutheran Church basement. There will be no Sunday school that day.
The meal is free but the church is accepting free-will donations. Proceeds will go toward sponsoring the youth to attend the National Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas, in June.
On display will be a quilt made and donated to the youth group by Pauline Mau. A silent auction for the quilt is being held through Easter.

Lutheran church to hold ham supper, deliveries available
SOUTH WAYNE - Our Savior's Lutheran Church will hold a ham supper from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 25.
The menu will include ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, rolls, salads, cheese, dessert and beverage. Carry-outs will be available and meals can be delivered. To order a meal, contact Ron DeNure at 558-9933 or Renita Berget at 214-5258.

Lena St. John's holy week worship schedule announced
LENA - St. John's Lutheran Church has a special schedule for Holy Week worship services, beginning with Palm Sunday services at 8 and 10:30 a.m. March 25 at the church, 625 Country Lane Drive, remembering Jesus' entry into Jerusalem.
Maundy Thursday worship service will be at 7 p.m. March 29. Maundy is based on the Latin word "mandatum," which means "commandment": At the Last Supper, Jesus gave the commandment to love one another and instituted the Lord's Supper, or Holy Communion. The Good Friday worship service at 7 p.m. is called Tenebrae, from the Latin word for shadows.
The regular Saturday evening service will not be held during Holy Week.
The Easter worship service times will be 7, 9 and 10:30 a.m. April 1. Easter breakfast will be prepared and served by the youth group following the 7 a.m. service.
