ARGYLE - One year ago, Ken Rynes, the Wisconsin Department Commander of the American Legion, attended the Argyle Legion picnic and talked about his goals for the year that he would be commander of the Wisconsin Legion.
He spoke of the Legacy Run, which raises money to help children that have lost a parent or parents in combat since 2001 and guarantees them a college education. At that time, Argyle Legion pledged their support to the Legacy Run.
Members and supporters of the Argyle Legion pledged $1,000 on behalf of Post 251 in Argyle. Herb and Pat Baumgartner donated in honor of Pat's father, Martin O. Erickson, who served in Germany in World War I and was a life member of the Darlington Post 214, her mother, Mary C. Erickson, who was a life member of Auxiliary Unit 214, and her brother, John C. Erickson, who served in Korea and is a life member of Argyle Legion Post 251.
Marie Kaiser, a supporter of the Argyle Legion, donated in honor of family members that have served and are still serving our nation in the military.
When the Legion Riders stopped in Darlington on July 15, a check was donated by the Argyle Legion for $1,000, along with Darlington's donation of $2,340 and $200 from the Lafayette County American Child Advocacy, which all posts in the county work for. A total of $3,540 was presented to the Legion Riders and Rynes.
Rynes also presented Patriot Eagles on behalf of Argyle Legion Post 251 to Herb and Pat Baumgartner, Marie Kaiser, Karen Gerber and John Erickson for their service and support to the Legion and our nation.
Marie, Karen and John Erickson were not available for presentation.
