Eckdhal: Running for Monroe School Board of Education
Letter To The Editor

From Eric Eckdhal

Monroe

To the Editor:

I am excited to be a candidate for the Monroe School Board of Education and would like the community to know more about me before the April 5th election.

Monroe has been my family’s home for the past 14 years. We appreciate its deep-rooted traditions, and we are impressed by its willingness to embrace new ideas and work to achieve ambitious goals.

I was born and raised in Downers Grove, IL. I met my wife Janelle at Knox College, where we earned bachelor degrees in Biology. Janelle is from Shullsburg, and after her professional schooling, we settled in Monroe to be close to her folks and start our family. We own a dental practice on Monroe’s Historic Square, and we are the proud parents of four amazing children who attend Monroe Middle and St. Victor schools.

I have enjoyed volunteer positions on the boards of St. Victor Home and School and the Green County Humane Society. While serving these organizations, I learned the value of strategic planning while exercising commonsense principles of stewardship, equality and opportunity to cooperatively solve problems.

My goal is to strengthen Monroe by helping the Board of Education set and meet goals for greatness within our schools. During the next year, the district will hire a new superintendent and put forward a referendum. Both of these actions will have lasting effects on our schools and community.

I am honored to partner with fellow candidates Rich Deprez and Dylan McGuire. We are committed to the priorities of academic excellence, community partnerships, talent retention, equity and inclusion, as well as transforming our facilities for success in the 21st Century. We want to do the important work of making our schools places that instill the love of learning while preparing students academically and socially. We are committed to respecting others and functioning with integrity.

On April 5th, please vote for Rich Deprez, Dylan McGuire, and Eric Eckdhal.
