Sugar River picks up two victories

BELLEVILLE - The Sugar River boys and girls track team swept a dual meet against Wisconsin Heights-Barneveld on Tuesday.

The Sugar River boys outdistanced the Vanguards 109-57 and the girls won 99-46.

Sugar River sophomore Garrison Woods won four individual events including the 100-meter dash (11.36), high jump (6-feet), long jump (21-0 1/2) and triple jump (42-10 1/2).

Senior Josh Stern finished first in the 800 (2:10.5) and in the 110 hurdles (:16.7).

Senior Riley Miller won the 1,600 with a time of 4:54.38 and Wesley Morgan took first in the 3,200 (10:40.88). Sophomore Kelvin Johnson took first in the 300 hurdles (43.6).

Miller and Morgan teamed with Jon Beckman and Alexander Yeiser to win the 3,200 relay (8:50.11). Beckman teamed with Cody Bigler, Max Eggenberger and Alex Gocht to win the 800 relay (1:50.5).

In the girls meet, Sugar River junior Emily Diaz won the 100 (12.88) and the 300 hurdles (51.28). Senior Victoria Ortgiesen won the 400 (1:06.53) and the 100 hurdles (17.65).

Junior Madeline Brunner took first in the 200 (:27.37) and in the 800 (2:31.53).

Lou Ann Judd won the 1,600 with a time of 5 minutes, 51.74 seconds and Emily DeNure took the top spot in the 3,200 (13:39.31). DeNure teamed with Harley Hollis, Sabrina Popenfus and Samantha Stecha to win the 400 relay with a time of 56.1 seconds.

Brunner teamed with Jessica Hutter, Ortgiesen and Popenfus to win the 1,600 relay with a time of 5:14.95.

Judd teamed with Natalie Kolasa, Susanna Rupp and Katie Schmitz to take first in the 3,200 relay with a time of 11:56.10.

Popenfus won the high jump (4-6) and Julian Sophia finished first in the pole vault (6-6).
