EVANSVILLE - Monroe junior Jack Rogerson finished third at the Evansville Invitational shooting a 10-over-par 82 Friday.
"It's a course he (Rogerson) has played before and he's comfortable," Monroe coach Braden Rindy said. "Mentally, he knows he can score well."
A downpour and whipping winds hit Evansville Country Club in the final hour of the round.
"He didn't have a jacket on and he just had a polo shirt," Rindy said of Rogerson. "It was good he could keep it together. He's that kind of kid who doesn't worry about that (weather)."
The Monroe boys golf team shot a season-high 393. The Cheesemakers played without No. 1 senior golfer Collyn Wilde, who missed the invitational due to school commitments.
Monroe sophomore Noah Becker shot a 94 and sophomore Connor Allen carded a 100. Freshman teammate Brennan Boyce, who played in his first varsity invite, shot a 117.
"You always would like to win an invitational," Rindy said. "Sometimes you just have to use it as a learning experience."
Rindy expects Boyce to be a contributor on the varsity soon.
"It was a good experience for him," Rindy said. "He definitely will be part of our program in the future. It was good for him to get his feet wet."
Edgerton won the invitational.
