WHITEWATER — Rhett Reuter, a Physical Education major from Gratiot, is one of eight members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field program who garnered All-America accolades based on their performances at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 8-9 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The Warhawk men finished fourth overall with 37 points, ahead of them in the standings was UW-La Crosse (1st-74 points), UW-Eau Claire (2nd-52 points), and UW Oshkosh (3rd-51 points). The top four teams in the nation were all from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the first time a single conference has ever swept the top four spots at a national meet in any division.
Shelvin Garrett II claimed his first national title and fifth All-America medal in the triple jump. His mark of 52-04.75 (15.97 meters) was a personal best, a facility record, a program record, and the No. 2 distance in NCAA Division III history.
Gunner Schlender joined Patzka on the All-America podium in both the 3,000-meter run and 5,000-meter run. Schlender placed fourth in the 3K in a personal best 8:10.87 and seventh in the 5K in 14:05.72. He is now a four-time All-American in track and field.
The Warhawks’ distance medley relay team of Craig Hundley, Kobe Chandler, Reuter and Justin Krause combined for an All-America finish of seventh place, crossing the finish line in 9:52.15.
