JUDA — New Glarus defeated a combined Monroe team 61-53 in the Green County Hoops Summit championship, hosted by Juda on Saturday, July 13.

The event was originally scheduled as a five-team, double-elimination tournament with one pool play game. Instead, one pool play and five bracket games were played out.

In pool play, New Glarus defeated Juda (Taylor) 61-36, and Monroe (King) beat Juda (Mahlkuch) 82-49. 

In bracket play, Juda (Mahlkuch) defeated Juda (Taylor) to advance to a quarterfinal against Monroe (King). In the other quarterfinal game, New Glarus faced off against Monroe (Meyer). 

The Knights beat the Cheesemakers, and the Cheesemakers beat the Panthers, setting up a semifinal game between New Glarus and Monroe (King).

Instead of playing the rest of the tournament out, the two Monroe teams combined to face off against New Glarus in a championship game, scheduled two hours ahead of time.
