HARRISONBURG, Va. — Brittany Lorenti Binger, a resident of Monroe, will be inducted into the James Madison University (JMU) Archery Hall of Fame on Saturday, Sept. 14
Brittany entered JMU as seasoned veteran that held a Jr. Division National Record at 70m and a World Record at 30m. She had a major impact on the Women’s Compound Team, earning All-American four times and Academic All-American two times, winning the National Collegiate Outdoor Championships in 2007 and 2008 and National Collegiate Indoor Championships in 2008, and leading the team to the Overall Team Championship in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Brittany’s leadership helped the JMU Archery Team transition from the varsity status, ending in 2007, to Club status as a student-run organization operating through University Recreation (UREC). She helped establish the sound foundation that the JMU Club Archery has used to remain competitive for the last 17 years.
Brittany competed in two World University Championships and a World University Games, earning a gold in Mixed Team and two bronze medals in Team Round. Representing the U.S. in other international tournaments, Brittany earned individual gold in a World Cup and Costa Rica Cup and team golds in World Cups and Costa Rica Cup before life and family interrupted her competitive career. She now teaches her son, Bodhi, and other local youth to shoot and perfect their form.
The Hall of Fame Awards Banquet is scheduled for 5-10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the JMU Hall of Presidents in the new D-Hall on campus of James Madison University.
