MILTON - The Monroe Cheesemakers are still hungry for their first win of the season after bowing to Milton, 25-20, 25-18, 25-8 Thursday in a Badger South Conference volleyball match.

"We started off real nice, but then we could see Milton slowly gaining momentum and by the third game they were hard to stop," said Dave Gersbach, Monroe head coach.

Senior Jaclyn Ditter continued her stellar play by leading the Cheesemakers in kills with four. Sophomore Ashley Curtis contributed 13 digs and senior Abby Jacobson added eight assists. Senior Jessica Leu came up with three blocks and sophomore Becca Armstrong scored a pair of aces for the Cheesemakers.

The loss drops the Cheesemakers to 0-3 in the Badger South and 0-8 overall. Gersbach said, despite the slow start, the team is anything but discouraged.

"They're a determined, hard-working team and I know they'll rebound," Gersbach said.

Monroe's next opponent is Monona Grove at home Thursday.
