MONROE — The Cheesemakers had three individual champions and finished in the middle of the pack at their Jan. 22 invitational at Monroe High School. Darlington-Black Hawk, meanwhile, had four champions and took second as a team. Whitewater won the team title.

Individual titles for Monroe came from Jack Dubach (138 pounds), Brady Schuh (145) and Isaac Bunker (285). Bunker is the fourth-ranked heavyweight in the state in Division 2, according to wiwrestling.com. Schuh is sixth at 145, while Dubach received an honorable mention nod last week. Dubach (20-5 overall) won his opening match by pinfall in just 19 seconds. He pinned Parkview-Albany’s Camron Duncan (20-8) in the first period of the semifinal, then Dubach narrowly edged Belmont-Platteville’s Tanner Paulson (27-11) in the championship, 4-3.

Schuh (26-4) won all three of his matches by pin, starting with teammate Payton Weckerly in the quarterfinal, then Parkview-Albany’s Jean-Luc Cramer (13-12) in just 36 seconds in the semifinal, and Belmont-Platteville’s Dylan Taber (23-13) in the title match in the second period.

At heavyweight, Bunker (26-3) also won all three matches by pin. He had just 2:16 total time on the mat in three bouts. He quickly took care of business in the quarterfinal in just 16, then knocked off Whitewater’s Leo Ortiz (14-14) in 43 seconds. In the championship, Bunker needed just 77 seconds to dispatch Belmont-Platteville’s Porter Mandurano (27-8), ranked ninth.

Also placing for Monroe were Garrett Minder (106, sixth), Christian Schuh (132, fourth), Jace Amacher (160, sixth) and Nathaniel Baker (195, sixth).

For Darlington-Black Hawk, Ethan Aird (106), Owen Seffrood (132), Maddox Goebel (152) and Owen Huschitt (182) were individual champions. Aird and Huschitt are ranked fourth in Division 2, while Seffrood is 12th. Goebel received an honorable mention nod last week.

Aird (25-2) pinned all three of his opponents in the first period. Seffrood (21-0) pinned his first two opponents in just 97 seconds combined, then fought Belmont-Platteville’s John Burbach (22-11) to the final whistle, winning 14-7.

Goebel (23-4) won his opener by 18-2 technical fall, then scored a third-period pin in the semfinals. In the championship, he fended off Whitewater’s Aaron Porras (15-8) by a score of 11-6. Huschitt (26-1) had a first-round bye, then pinned Cuba City-Southwestern’s Cooper Johnston (15-16) in just 22 seconds. He pinned Lake Mills’ Ben Buchholtz (15-8) in the championship, 15 seconds into the third period.

Also placing for the WarBirds were Ethan Aird (113, fourth), Tye Crist (170, fourth), Ross Crist (220, third), Wiley Zasada (285, third) and Bryan Lazaro (285, sixth).

Parkview-Albany’s Sam Schwengels (170) and Wesley Egan (220) took second place. Ian Suer (126) and Evan Suer (132) each took third place for the Vikings. Jean-Luc Cramer (145) and Brennen Brewster (285) were both fourth, while Camron Duncan (138) and Connor Flippin (113) finished fifth.
