Pec rolls over Albany; NG, Monticello net close victories
No. 7 East Troy drops 96 on Brodhead; Kreklow’s late FTs help Knights stave off Marshall’s upset bid

ALBANY — Four players reached double figures against the Comets Jan. 11 to help the visiting Vikings stay on top in the Six Rivers East. Pecatonica trounced Albany 75-46.

Colton Schraepfer and Jaden Hendrickson each scored 18 for Pecatonica, while Zack Eaton dropped 14 and Carter Ruegsegger added 11. Hendrickson was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line and Ruegsegger hit the Vikings’ only two 3-pointers in the game.

Josh Dahl and Clay Hulbert each scored 11 for Albany, while teammate Corbin Kelley added 10 points. The Comets hit six 3s as a team.

Pecatonica (9-3, 5-1) leads Barneveld (6-5, 4-1) by a half-game in the conference standings. Albany (4-8, 3-3) sits fourth.


Monticello 37, Argyle 32

ARGYLE — Reece Rufer scored all nine of his points in the second half — including going 5-for-5 on free throws down the stretch — to help the Ponies score a road win Jan. 11.

Peter Gustafson led Monticello with 17 points, with 15 coming in the first half thanks to three 3s. Travis Dammen led Argyle with nine points.

Monticello led 19-15 at halftime, with Gustafson doing much of the heavy lifting. Simon Blohowiak scored two buckets in the first half and eight in the game for the Ponies to help balance the scoring.

East Troy 96, Brodhead 65

BRODHEAD — The Trojans scored 55 points in the first half to hold the Cardinals at bay in a Rock Valley game Jan. 11.

A.J. Vukovich scored 29 points for East Troy, which had four players in double figures.

Dawson Van Whye had 18 for Brodhead, while teammate Dawson McGinty finished with 11 and Connor Green eight.


New Glarus 74, Marshall 72

MARSHALL — Jaden Kreklow hit two free throws with 2.9 seconds left in the game to seal the tight win for the Glarner Knights. Kreklow scored 22 in the game as New Glarus was able to hold on despite a second-half surge by the Cardinals.

New Glarus (10-2, 2-0 Capitol South) led 43-33 at halftime, but Marshall (5-5, 1-1) pressed the No. 2-ranked Knights all the way to the final buzzer.

Zach Feller scored 16 for New Glarus, which also got 15 points from Trevor Gassman and 12 from Mason Martinson. 

Marshall hit 10 3-pointers as a team, while the Knights hit five. Marshall’s Gabe Stewart scored 21 points in the game, while teammate Craig Ward had 29 — including 17 in the first half with five 3s. Ward hit seven 3s total.
