ARGYLE — Avari Steiner joined the 1,000 Assist Club for the Orioles following a four-set win 25-14, 25-8, 24-26, 25-10 over Albany in a Six Rivers East match on Sept. 8. Steiner had 39 assists, five digs, two aces and three kills on the night.

“Very proud of her, this is only her second year of setting,” said coach Jen Butler. “Setting is such a key role on team as the ball runs through you almost every play.”

Freshman Haleigh Fish tallied 16 kills, nine aces and seven digs for Argyle. Brooke Wellnitz had 11 kills, 16 digs and three aces. Claire Holmes finished with seven kills, seven digs and four aces, and Elise Kuebli added 11 digs.

The win comes following Argyle’s second place finish at the Monroe Tournament on Sept. 5. The Orioles dominated pool play, defeating Dodgeville and Juda, then knocked off Monroe and River Valley in the Gold Bracket before losing to Shullsburg for the championship.

Steiner had 80 assists, 32 digs and 3 aces on the day. Wellnitz finished with 42 kills, 64 digs, six aces and five blocks. Harris tallied 50 digs, 14 aces and three kills. Fish had 22 kills, 11 digs and three aces. Holmes finished with 22 kills, 11 digs and three aces.

Wisconsin Heights 3, Belleville 0

MAZOMANIE — The Vanguards fended off the Wildcats in a Capitol South sweep on Tuesday, 25-21, 25-18, 25-22.

Bryn Prochaska had nine kills for Belleville, while Korynn Potter and Jocelyn Raven each had 15 digs. Libby Iserloth tallied 11 digs, and Hayden Caskey dished out 10 assists. Potter added three aces.

Marshall 3, New Glarus 0

MARSHALL — The Glarner Knights met up with the 2025 Capitol South co-champion Cardinals on Tuesday night. Led by eight seniors, Marshall had the New Glarus lineup out of sync from the start, coach Kayla Zimmerman said.

“A well-balanced attack from across the front and from the back row was too much,” for her team’s struggling defense, she said.

Marshall won 25-15, 25-16, 25-11. Kate Parman led New Glarus with six kills, while Ellie Brenkman added five kills.

Barneveld 3, Pecatonica 2

BARNEVELD — The Vikings took the Eagles to the brink in the deciding fifth set, but the hosts came out on top, 21-25, 12-25, 25-20, 25-23, 16-14.

Monticello 3, Black Hawk 0

SOUTH WAYNE — The Ponies swept the Warriors in a Six Rivers East matchup Sept. 8, 25-9, 25-21, 25-14.

Black Hawk collected just 10 spike kills and three block kills in the contest. Jerzey Wiegel had three aces for the Warriors. As a team, Black Hawk played free of services errors for the entire second set.

Iowa-Grant 3, Darlington 2

DARLINGTON — The Redbirds lost a five-set nail-biter on Sept. 8, 25-13, 24-26, 25-18, 23-25, 9-15.

Lilly Ritchie had 15 kills for Darlington, while teammate Camryn Andrews dished out 22 assists, Ali Wineland tallied 18 digs, Raynie Norgard collected five blocks and Chesne Fink added four aces.

Evansville 3, Monroe 0

EVANSVILLE — The Cheesemakers were swept on the road Sept. 8, falling to the Blue Devils 25-11, 25-15, 25-8.

Monroe was to play another Rock Valley match at Whitewater on Sept. 10, then partake in the Brodhead Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12.
