MONROE — SSM Health Monroe Clinic Medical Group Registered Nurse (RN) Erin Kettle was recently surprised with a DAISY Award for providing exceptional patient care.
Kettle was nominated for the award by Michele Schiess, who described her as a real-life superhero who always protects and advocates for others after guiding her husband Brian through a difficult and uncertain medical journey. She wrote:
“I want to take a moment to express just how grateful we are for Erin and the incredible impact she had during a challenging time for our family. When my loved one was faced with persistent abdominal pain, Erin truly became our guiding light. From the very first message I sent about an upcoming procedure, Erin took charge with remarkable professionalism and compassion.
Erin communicated the plan for referral, advocated for timely care by calling to expedite the final MRI/MRCP interpretation, seamlessly coordinated care between both the local and Madison specialists, and made sure our primary provider was kept informed. Erin consistently followed through on every promise, always keeping us updated in a timely manner. The clear communication let us know exactly what to expect at each step.
I realize Erin was likely balancing care for many patients over the course of several days, but to us, it felt as though we were the only ones under her care. She not only inquired about my husband’s well-being but also took the time to ask how I was doing, recognizing the importance of caring for the whole family and acknowledging the emotional toll of navigating healthcare.”
The DAISY Foundation was established by family members of J. Patrick Barnes, a young man who died from an auto-immune disease. Compassionate care and clinical excellence are at the heart of the DAISY Award and SSM Health’s mission.
