WAUKESHA — Monroe closed out its weekend quad in Waukesha with a win over Burlington, 4-3.

“We pulled out a tight victory with some nice wins sprinkled around our lineup,” said Matt Bordner, Monroe’s coach. The Cheesemakers lost to Milwaukee Reagan 4-3 and also played host Waukesha South. “I felt like we brought better energy against Ronald Reagan.”

Against Burlington, No. 1 singles Matthew Setterstrom won 6-0, 6-1, teammate Max Petitjean captured the No. 3 singles 6-4, 7-5, and Dante Giordano cruised at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Ryan Mathiason and Wes Saunders battled to a 6-1, 5-7, 10-3 win, while No. 1 doubles Aaron Roidt and Chris Giasson dropped their match 7-6 (11), 6-3.

“Matthew dominated in his match at 1-singles which was a nice way to finish the day for him. I was probably most proud of Max Petitjean bumping up to 3 singles for us and pulling out a big win. He played really hard all day — I loved his grit and determination,” Bordner said.
