Cheesemakers Finish 3rd at Rock Valley Mini-Meet
The Monroe Cheesemakers took third place at the Rock Valley conference Valley Division mini-meet at Delavan-Darien in golf on April 22. East Troy won the meet by shooting a 157. Delavan-Darien was second with a 160. Monroe was third with a 164. Senior Aaron Benzschawel was the top golfer for the Cheesemakers as he finished third with a 39. Junior Hans Brandt was 8th with a 41. Junior Brody Koehn was also 8th with a 41. Senior Brady Spotts was 12th as he fired a 43. Junior Brock Brandli was 15th with a 44. For the Cheesemakers, the last regular season conference match is May 1 at Whitewater.
AP 3rd, Darlington 4th at SWAL conference meet
The Argyle-Pecatonica Golf Team shot a team score of 183 to finish in third place at the SWAL Conference Golf Meet held at Cole Acres Golf Course in Cuba City on April 21. Darlington was fourth after shooting a 192. Mineral Point won the event with a team score of 165.
Senior Alex Ruetten of Argyle-Pec shot a 40 to lead his team. Sophomore Avari Steiner shot a 41. For Darlington, senior Olin Johnson was the top golfer with a 49.
Argyle-Pec coach Chuck Chandler had high praise for Alex Ruetten and Avari Steiner.
“Avari & Alex did their jobs today but no one else played well. The conditions were pretty good for golf today. Cuba City will be challenging us for second place in the conference this season. They got us tonight,” Chandler said.
Both Argyle-Pec and Darlington will compete at Dodge-Point Country Club on April 29.
