Bobak, Updike 2nd team all-state
softball in glove stock

MONROE — Olivia Bobak capped her prep career with a slew of praise. The senior pitcher helped power the Cheesemakers to the WIAA Division 2 state championship game with both her play on the mound as well as at the plate.

She then played in the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association all-star game and was named both all-district and all-state by the WFSCA. Bobak was a first-team pick on the all-district team, alongside teammates Sydney Updike, a sophomore, and Grace Tostrud, a junior. Bobak and Updike were second-team all-state selections.

Argyle freshman Grace Ganshert was honorable mention all-district for the small schools in District 3, which covers the southwest region of the state.

Bobak and fellow senior Hailey Betthauser represented Monroe in the WFSCA all-star games June 18 in Wisconsin Dells. The two Cheesemakers, along with coaches Joe O’Leksy, Donna Skoge and Noel Herbst, won both of their games, 5-3 and 8-6. Betthauser, who led Monroe in home runs on the season, also homered in the all-star event.

Argyle’s Kirsten Ostby and Jadyn Saalsaa also participated in the all-star festivities, as did Darlington’s Bethany McDonald.
