Bel Canto Singers to perform at MAC

MONROE — The Bel Canto Singers will present their annual spring concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at the Monroe Arts Center.

Allen Redford is the director, and Christina Parkinson accompanies the group. Instrumentalists include Maggie Setterstrom (flute), Peggy Miller (clarinet), Patrick Bodell (bass), and Erik Madsen (drums).

The Monroe High School Chamber Choir, directed by Alexander Lentz, will also perform.

The Bel Canto Singers are known for their powerful sound and lush harmonies. They have a long tradition with the Monroe Arts Center, first performing in the lovely concert hall in 1979. In the years since then, Bel Canto has grown from a small group of Monroe friends singing madrigals to an accomplished choir from a large stateline area. At the same time, the Monroe Arts Center has grown from a fledgling arts venue to a flourishing center of music, art, theater and arts education in an expanded, accessible facility.

Admission is $10 at the door. Free admittance for age 10 and under. There are no advance ticket sales.
