Local physician writes basketball anthology

Brodhead native Charles Ripp wrote an anthology on basketball, which includes a chapter on Monroe’s 1965 boys basketball state champions.

BRODHEAD — Charles Ripp, a Brodhead native, released his newest book Glass Backboards: A Coast to Coast Anthology of American Basketball, which includes a chapter on Monroe’s 1965 boys basketball state championship team.

The chapter is a chronological account of the season, written as a dialogue between a grandfather and his grandson. Ripp watched all of the games as a kid with his grandfather.
