LAWRENCE - Monroe High School senior Jordan Hirsbrunner can add another accomplishment and record to her long list of achievements after winning the 300-meter hurdles Friday at the Kansas Relays in a school record-breaking time of 43.77 seconds.

It broke the school record she set last year in winning the WIAA Division 2 state championship in 43.94. Hirsbrunner, a University of Wisconsin track and field recruit, outdueled Kickapoo's Jaden Wiley (44.11).

"Any time you break a school record and win an event at the Kansas Relays it's a big accomplishment," Monroe girls track coach Matt Davis said. "She broke her school record from state last year and it's only April. She is on fire right now."

Hirsbrunner has now set or tied six school records - the 300 hurdles, 55 hurdles, 800 relay, 1,600 relay, indoor high jump and indoor 200. Hirsbrunner is the first girl from Monroe to ever medal in four events at the state meet, which she did last year.
