ARGYLE - Three baserunning mistakes and eight errors came back to haunt the Argyle High School softball team in a 7-2 loss to River Ridge-Cassville on Thursday.

"It was the difference," Argyle coach Heidi Ganshert said. "We had three runners thrown out at home. My frustration level is very high right now. We are just not playing good softball right now."

Argyle (8-14, 5-7 Six Rivers East) had runners on first and third base in the second inning. On a throw to third base, the Orioles had a runner race home but the potential game-tying run was thrown out at the plate. In the fifth, the Orioles had runners on second and third and on a throw to third base, the Orioles had a runner head home and she was thrown out at the plate.

"We had the game-tying run thrown out at home twice," Ganshert said. "We had a couple of huge missed signs."

Argyle junior pitcher Kayla Butler-Paulson pitched a complete game and gave up just five hits. She struck out two and didn't issue a walk.

The Orioles' eight errors led to seven unearned runs for River Ridge-Cassville.

"It was kind of a vanilla game," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "They didn't show everything, and we didn't show them everything. We just need to focus on Wednesday night (regional semifinals) and going 1-0 and if we keep that philosophy the wins and championship will come."
