Marilyn R. Lien, age 81 of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at New Glarus Home. She was born the daughter of Leo and Faye (Soper) Gutzmer on May 3, 1940 in Harrison, Nebraska. 

Marilyn worked for National Guardian Life Insurance Company for 30 years. After her retirement she worked at local gas stations, to keep busy. When she was younger, she enjoyed sewing; she used to make her kids’ clothes and outfits. She also like to watch the Green Bay Packers play and going to the track to watch horse races. 

She is survived by her children, Sherry (Mark) Sheskey of Blanchardville, Shelly Hayes of Marshall, and Jeff (Sonia) Lien of Madison; 3 grandchildren, Brittany Wagner, Kaleb Vingum, and Cheyenne Hayes; 2 great-grandchildren, Devan and Dawson; brothers, Phil (Lauri) Gutzmer and Gary Gutzmer; and sister, Shirley Zuhlke.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Roger Gutzmer, Judy Sardeson, Jerold, Ronnie. Denny and Greg Gutzmer; and brother-in-law, Ken Zuhlke.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 5, 2021 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
