James “JD” Bechtolt, age 59, of Monroe passed away January 11, 2021 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer. He was born on September 22, 1961 in Monroe, the son of Daniel and Doris (Gransee) Bechtolt. He lived in the Monroe area his entire life. Prior to his accident he worked for C&M Fischer and Curran Cheese. He enjoyed nature, sitting by the firepit, bird watching and cooking meals on the grill for his mom.

He is survived by his mother, Doris Bechtolt of Monroe; his brothers, Scott (Penny), Ervin, Donald (Stephanie), Robert (Alice), and Mark Bechtolt; two sisters, Carol Knox and Lynn (Jeff) Pinker; and special friend, Jackie. He is further survived by two daughters, Candi McCauley and Jessica Ritchie and four grandchildren, Devin, Kayla, Cameron, and Parker.

He was preceded in death by his father Daniel; and nephew, Jason Bechtolt.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 4-6PM at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home.

Private family services will be held at the funeral home with Randy Krause officiating. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
