Eric Steiner
Eric Steiner

Eric Steiner, age 40, of Monroe passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at his home. Eric was born the son of Richard and Susan (Knudson) Steiner on December 7, 1978 in Monroe. Eric was a graduate of Albany High School.

Eric bravely endured a life of medical setbacks; having first been diagnosed with cancer at age 16, and beating it twice. He developed diabetes due to complications from receiving chemotherapy, and eventually lost part of his leg. Most recently his kidneys had begun to fail, and Eric was ready to fight the struggle that comes with dialysis. He was always looking to get past any medical issue in the hopes of eventually being able to live his life.

Eric enjoyed playing video games, watching Sy-Fy, collecting wolves and angel figurines. He also had a knack for putting together puzzles and could easily put together 3-D ones as well. Eric also enjoyed watching cooking shows and aspired to be a chef one day. He also had a special bond and friendship with his Uncle Jim; wherever Jim was, Eric wanted to be there too.

Eric is survived by his mother, Susan (Clarence) Martin of Monroe; brothers, Kevin Steiner of Monroe, Mark (Tammy) Steiner of Janesville, and Steve (Donna) Steiner of Canton, GA; three step-sisters, Adri (Sam) Laws of Monroe, Krisa Martin of Franksville, WI, and Ashley Martin of Monroe; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, several other relatives, and friends.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, Richard; grandmother, Alice Hawkinson; uncle, Chuck Hawkinson; and aunts, Donna Green and Judy Piette.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00PM Noon on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00AM until the time of service, at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent at: shriner111.com
