Ardelle Jean Sellnow, age 88 of Monroe, died Friday January 1, 2021 at Ascention Hospital in Oshkosh, WI. She was born at home on September 1, 1932 in Browntown, the daughter of Gus and Emma (Zilmer) Monte. Ardelle married Donald Roy Sellnow on October 11, 1950 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe.

Ardelle’s calling in life was to be a true servant and hard worker, and she certainly accomplished that. Beginning at 14 years of age, she began cleaning homes and working in a department store, and then farming, baking for the sale barn, waitressing, managing a restaurant, and finally after 30 years with Swiss Colony, she retired just a few days before her 80th birthday. She enjoyed listening to music, baking for others, playing cards, polka dancing, and going to the Casino with her husband.

Ardelle leaves behind to cherish her memory her six grandchildren: Kendra, David, Ryan, Angela, Kara, and Aaron; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; also, a special family in Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald; son, Kenneth Sellnow, daughter, Karen Indergand; brother, Virgil Monte; sisters, Viola Buholzer, Irma Mayer, Retha Dix and Bernice Leck.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 7, 2021at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Burial will be in Saucerman Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Meals on Wheels or Monroe Clinic Hospice Home.
