During the week of Oct. 3, the sub-contractor hired by Rock Road for curb and gutter and concrete construction, Parisi Construction Co., completed the installation of concrete sidewalk and driveways on 8th and 9th Street from 14th Avenue to 20th Avenue and also the last sections of colored and stamped concrete crosswalks at 13th Avenue. They installed approximately 700 feet of concrete sidewalk between 16th Avenue and 20th Avenue along with numerous driveways and steps for approach walks, as well as 250 square feet of colored crosswalks. This week Rock Road Companies completed placing topsoil between the curb and sidewalk and behind the sidewalk from 15th Avenue to 20th Avenue. Voegeli Landscaping followed behind with final grading of the topsoil and seed placement to 17th Avenue. The electrical contractor, Westphal and Company Inc., completed the installation of street lights from 13th Avenue to 16th Avenue with final testing and powering up of the control boxes by Alliant Energy. Traffic signs were installed this week by Badger Lighting and Signs throughout the project limits. Rock Road started placing the final 2-1/2" lift of asphalt pavement from Wisconsin 69 to 20th Avenue with mainline paving expected to be completed by Saturday afternoon.

Next week, Rock Road Companies is scheduled to complete the placement of the final lift of asphalt pavement with the paving of all of the intersections into the mainline of 9th Street. After completion of the street paving they will pave the asphalt parking lots and driveways that were disturbed during construction. Upon completion of the asphalt paving, Herbig Blacktop will start with the installation of the colored and stamped asphaltic crosswalks; this is expected to take 7 days. Rock Road and Voegeli Landscaping will continue with site restoration throughout the project with final seeding and installation of erosion mat. Westphal and Company will complete the installation of the traffic signals with the programing of the traffic controllers and testing of the signals before being switched online.

All businesses are open during construction and ready for your patronage. The road way may appear to be open for continual traffic, but be aware of the possible hazards of a closed road with construction traffic and for the safety of the workers as they work towards completion of the project.
