VFW and American Legion Sponsor New Monroe High School Flag Pole

The School District of Monroe announced a generous lifetime sponsorship agreement with Cecil Jones VFW Post 2312 and American Legion Zilmer-Reilly Post No. 84 to support the installation of the flag pole at the new Monroe High School. This meaningful gift, totaling $5,604, fully funds the project and will play a lasting role in honoring the courageous service of our nation’s veterans.

The installation of the flag pole will serve as a powerful and enduring symbol of patriotism, respect, and gratitude. As students, families, and community members gather on campus for generations to come, the flag pole will stand as a reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of those who have served our country. It will also serve as an educational touchpoint for future Cheesemakers, helping them understand and appreciate the legacy of our veterans.

The School District of Monroe offered its sincere appreciation to Michael “Gunner” Furgal for his enthusiastic support and leadership in making this sponsorship possible. His dedication to honoring veterans and supporting our schools reflects the strong community pride that defines Monroe.

“We are grateful to the VFW and American Legion for their unwavering commitment to our community and to the values that unite us,” said Joe Monroe, Superintendent of the School District of Monroe. “This sponsorship ensures that our new high school campus will proudly honor the service and sacrifice of local veterans for decades to come.”

Woodford State Bank Sponsors Monroe High School Courtesy Cart

The School District of Monroe also announced a generous lifetime sponsorship agreement with Woodford State Bank to support the purchase of a courtesy cart for the new Monroe High School campus. This gift, totaling $10,000, fully funds the project and will play an important role in ensuring accessibility and comfort for students, families, and community members.

The courtesy cart will provide much-needed support for individuals with mobility needs, helping them travel safely and comfortably to various parts of the campus during school events, activities, and daily operations. As the new high school opens its doors, this addition will help ensure that every member of our community can engage fully in the opportunities and experiences the campus provides.

The School District of Monroe extended its heartfelt appreciation to Scott DeNure, President/ CEO of Woodford State Bank, for his enthusiastic partnership and commitment to area students and the community. His leadership and the bank’s continued investment in local public schools reflect the deep community spirit that defines Monroe.

“We are extremely grateful for Woodford State Bank’s ongoing support and their belief in the importance of accessible facilities,” Superintendent Monroe said. “This sponsorship enhances our ability to welcome and serve all members of the Monroe community.”

The School District of Monroe looks forward to recognizing this partnership as the new high school nears completion and is privileged to work with community organizations that share its commitment to respect, remembrance, and civic pride.
