Robert I. Brunkow

Robert I. Brunkow, age 90, formerly of Juda, passed away peacefully Monday, June 3, 2013 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on October 17, 1922 in Jefferson Township, the son of Frank and Lulu Ellen (Tracy) Brunkow. He graduated from Juda High School.

Robert and Patricia Woodle were married on February 7, 1947 at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe.

Bob farmed with his family on the family farm on Brunkow Rd. until 1969, they then moved to Town Center Rd. He was also employed at General Motors and after being semi-retired he then drove for Monroe Truck.

Bob earned his pilot's license in 1944. He enjoyed flying from his home to many places including Juda, then driving a School Bus route before flying back home again.

Bob always started his day by meeting with his friends for breakfast in Juda and his 2nd breakfast in Argyle. Bob enjoyed motorcycling riding, traveling to 49 states including Canada & Mexico but his most precious part of life was his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are children: Terry Brunkow of Monroe, Steve Brunkow of Janesville, Dave Brunkow of Machesney Park, IL; Larry (Louise) Brunkow of Oregon, Sharon (Ron) Kubly of Monroe, Tim (Carmen) Brunkow of Juda, Jeffrey Brunkow of Columbus, grandchildren; Michelle (Rob) Neizold, Alexandria, Cady, T.J., Tory, Tanner Brunkow, Ryan Kubly, Craig (Samantha) Kubly; great-grandchildren: Robert, Savannah, Devon, Shawna Neizold, Aiden Brunkow & Adison Kubly.

He was predeceased by his parents, wife; Patricia, sister, Helen Gissing in 1993; brothers, Kenneth in 1996 and Wendell in 2012; and great-granddaughter, Sofia Jo Kubly April 9, 2009.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion United Methodist Church in Juda, with Rev. Vicki Brantmeyer officiating. Burial will follow in Oakley Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Dr., and 18th Ave. A memorial fund is being established in Robert's memory.
