Monroe Police

MONROE - A vehicle going the wrong way on a one-way street on the downtown Square midday Thursday caused a traffic jam and led to traffic citations for the driver and a drug search of the vehicle. Steven Ray Thompson, 25, Evansville, was cited for failure to obey a traffic sign and for driving with a suspended license after officers stopped his vehicle at 11:13 a.m. in the 1000 block of 17th Avenue. During the stop, an officer detected suspicious circumstances and called in a police K-9 to check the vehicle. The K-9 alerted for the possible presence of drugs, and a search turned up drug paraphernalia for smoking. The incident remains under investigation.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Thursday:

• Deputies took a report of a burglary in the N2500 block of Coplien Road. Several small engines and other equipment were taken from storage sheds overnight. Anyone with information on the case can contact the sheriff's office at 328-9400 or Crime Stoppers at 800-422-7463.

• Robert J. Humphrey, 33, Janesville, was cited for driving with a revoked license and no proof of vehicle insurance after deputies stopped him at 7:19 p.m. for a traffic violation in the W5600 block of Wisconsin 11, Town of Monroe.

DARLINGTON - On Thursday:

• A deputy responded at 5:20 a.m. to East Truth Street in Shullsburg for a welfare check.

• Livestock in the roadway was reported at 5:59 a.m. on Dobbs Road, Town of Lamont.

• Livestock in the roadway was reported at 9:20 a.m. on Edison Road, Town of Benton.

• A deputy transported a Lafayette County Jail inmate at 10:18 a.m. to an appointment with Human Services.

• A theft was reported at 11:05 a.m. on Wis. 78, Town of Gratiot.

• Dogs running at large were reported at 4:33 p.m. on Miner Way in Shullsburg.

• Deante P. Lasoya, 18, Hazel Green, was cited for texting while driving at 6:42 p.m. on County O, Town of Seymour.

• A deputy responded at 8:58 p.m. to a report of a civil dispute on Johnson Road, Town of Shullsburg.

• Livestock on the roadway was reported at 9:08 p.m. on County F, Town of Lamont.

• A deputy responded at 11:17 p.m. to an open door on County O, Town of White Oak Springs.
