BLANCHARDVILLE - A Sterling, Ill., man was seriously injured Sunday when his motorcycle left the road and went into a ditch.
Michael L. Schmidt, 52, was taken by helicopter to the University of Wisconsin Hospital after his motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve and left the road around 3:30 p.m. on Wisconsin 78 in Blanchard township. The motorcycle became airborne. Schmidt was thrown from the motorcycle.
Blanchardville Fire and Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.
The motorcycle received extensive damage and was towed.
