SOUTH WAYNE - The Lafayette County Sheriff's Department is looking for information about an attempted robbery that was reported around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at a residence on State Line Road in rural South Wayne.
A woman told deputies that three men, described as small-framed with dark skin tones, came to her home claiming to be involved with surveying activities and tree removal. One of the men distracted the woman's attention by luring her outside the home to talk to her, while the other two men entered the residence and rummaged through parts of the home.
Another resident, who also was home, came into contact with the two men and they fled.
All three men left the home in a cream-colored van or sport utility vehicle.
There were no injuries to either resident and no property was known to have been taken.
Anyone with information can contact the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department at (608) 776-4870.
