BARABOO - Allene Lange Gibbons, age 78, of Baraboo, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at Sauk County Health Care Center in Reedsburg. Allene was born on Aug. 20, 1932 in the Township of Excelsior to Melvin and Lillian Lange. She attended elementary school in the Township of Excelsior and graduated from Baraboo High School in 1950.
On June 16, 1951 she was united in marriage to Larry Lindgren in Baraboo. Together they moved to Monroe where they lived until she divorced. Then she married Archie Gibbons on July 1, 1978. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1990.
Allene was a cook at the Monroe public school system for over 15 years as well as an excellent homemaker and mother. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, and being with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Mona Knoke (Noel Whittemore) of Iron River; a son, Mitchell (Cindy) Lindgren of Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandchildren, Niki (Lonnie) Knowlton of Wasilla, Alaska.,Taylor Lindgren of Minneapolis, Minn., and further survived by Archie's children; Jane, Barb, Carol, and Jeanie; two brothers, Stuart (Janette) Lange of Wausaukee, Evan Lange of Reedsburg; two sisters, Marjorie Fish of North Freedom and Carol (Mick) McIntyre of Baraboo; and three sisters-in-law, Donna Lange, Mary Jean Lange, and Kathleen Lange; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Allene was preceded in death by four brothers, Kendall, Melvin "Bingo," Donald "Ted," and Milton; a sister, Arvona "Mona" Boye; sister-in-law, Audrey Lange; brother-in-laws, Robert Fish and Delbert "Dutch" Boye.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at the Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., Baraboo. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 from 10:00 am until the time of services. A private inurnment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom in the spring.
