The Monroe City Council on Tuesday set a public hearing for May 19 on a resolution defining and prohibiting "nude exhibitionism" in establishments that serve alcohol.

City Attorney Rex Ewald noted in the Judiciary and Ordinance Committee Tuesday that the behavior is not being restricted, as it is a First Amendment right recognized by the Supreme Court. Rather, the resolution seeks to minimize the risks of adverse secondary effects of the behavior.
