Jeff Skatrud Running for Green County sheriff
MONROE - It took only a week, but there is already a candidate throwing his hat in the ring to replace soon-to-be retired Green County Sheriff Randy Roderick.

Green County Chief Deputy Jeff Skatrud, 51, will be running as a Democrat to replace his current boss in the fall election, he announced in a press release Tuesday evening.

"I am immensely proud of the men and women of the Green County Sheriff's Department and I would be honored to carry on the tradition of protecting and serving the citizens of Green County as your sheriff," Skatrud said, in the press release.

Following a Green County board meeting April 20, Roderick announced he would retire at the end of his term in January. Roderick has been Green County Sheriff since 2001.

Skatrud joined the Green County Sheriff's Department in 1981 as a patrol deputy, after starting his career as a Shullsburg police officer in 1979. In his 28 years with the Green County department Skatrud has also been a patrol sergeant, drug detective, lieutenant and the county's first DARE officer.

Skatrud lives in rural Brodhead with his wife Lynn, and has two adult sons, Josh and Kevin.
