What are the top issues facing the office you seek and how would you work to resolve them?

The biggest issues that are facing Green County Law Enforcement are the prevalence of controlled substances, alcohol abuse, and mental health issues in our communities. Those are three of the underlying issues that result in the majority of law enforcement contacts and criminal charges in Green County.

I have been involved in the ad-hoc committee that is developing a drug court in Green County to help address some of the offenses relating to the abuse of controlled substances. That committee is on providing an alternative to the traditional criminal justice system to provide treatment, rather than punishment alone.

My goal over the next four years is to expand the drug court, which is planned to begin in July, 2017, to include an alcohol court, and work with other County agencies to expand the availability of mental health counseling throughout our community. I believe that by addressing some of the underlying issues relating to criminal behavior, we will be able to continue to keep Green County safe.

Despite the goals of creating a drug court and alcohol court, I will nevertheless continue to prosecute the most serious offenses to protect the residents of Green County. I will continue to work with our great law enforcement and support agencies to ensure that justice is provided to our community.
