MONROE — Amy Jo Walter has announced that she is a write- in candidate for the coroner election in 2022.
Walter (46) is a career firefighter/paramedic who served as deputy coroner for Green County for 6 years.
Walter said when announcing her campaign “I believe so strongly in the position and it’s responsibility to the community. I believe in being an advocate for the families and a voice for the deceased. I believe in the natural compassion for another human in their most grief stricken moment.”
Walter says her years of experience in the field have enabled her to gain insight that will bring a fresh and much needed perspective to the office of coroner. She said she will have great empathy and will work efficiently for the families who suffer from the loss of a loved one.
Walter has gained the support of much of the community. Specifically of Adam Bansley who recently lost his wife unexpectedly. Bansley said “She has my vote as a compassionate and extremely knowledgeable professional. She has been so helpful to me, and so knowledgeable and compassionate over the last two months. For anyone that may lose a loved one during the next term, I would sincerely hope that they have Amy Jo Walter working with them. My experiences with the current coroner have not been good.”
