MONROE — Pleasant View Nursing Home initiated an Outbreak Plan Sept. 2 after two staff members tested positive for COVID-19. An “outbreak” is defined as one positive staff or one positive resident case. There are no residents that are positive for COVID-19 at this time. Nursing staff monitor all residents for any signs and symptoms of COVID-19 as well as take their temperature and oxygen levels twice a day.
The Green County Public Health Department posted a recent press release related to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Green County. This very high positivity rate in Green County impacts nursing homes and requires us to initiate steps for protection. Some of the steps are as follows:
● Staff are working in full PPE which includes an N95 mask and face shield.
● All staff and residents will be tested twice a week during this time period and until the community spread and positive cases declines to a low level.
● Visits are now on hold through September 12, to reduce the risk of exposure to our residents and staff. Social Services is contacting families and notifying them of this change. Updates will be posted on the Pleasant View website.
● The construction project that was scheduled to begin on September 8, 2021 is on hold.
● New admissions to Pleasant View are on hold through September 12, 2021.
To reduce and control the spread of COVID-19 in the county Green County Public Health has asked the community to wear a mask when in public whether you are vaccinated or unvaccinated.
At Pleasant View, residents and staff lived through an outbreak in November and December of 2020, and the trauma of that outbreak still resonates. The staff request communal help to protect its residents by reducing the community spread that puts us at risk, which includes getting vaccinated, wearing a facemask in public spaces and social distancing when possible.
