MILWAUKEE - Teachers across the country have returned to class fully prepared to teach Project Lead The Way courses after completing intense training at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Throughout the summer, more than 800 teachers, with three teachers from Green and Lafayette county school districts, attended core training at MSOE where they learned the complete curriculum for a PLTW course.

Becky Cohen, Darlington High School, completed core training for Computer Software Engineering, where students develop computational thinking as they create apps for mobile devices, automate tasks in a variety of programming languages and find patterns in data.

Leif Gilbertson, New Glarus High School, completed core training for Principles of Biomedical Science, where students explore concepts of biology and medicine to determine factors that led to the death of a fictional person. They examine autopsy reports, investigate medical history, and explore medical treatments.

Daniel Powers, New Glarus High School, completed core training for Human Body Systems, where students build organs and tissues on MANIKEN skeletal models; use data acquisition software to monitor body functions; and take on the roles of biomedical professionals to solve real-world medical cases. Powers also completed core training for Principles of Biomedical Science.
