Monroe’s 4th of July activities announced

MONROE — The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department will hold its annual July 4th Celebration in Twining Park on Thursday, July 4.  

The event activities include:

●  Fire truck there for kids to sit in

●  Tot Lot Singers, 9 a.m.

●  Carnival games, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

●  Kiwanis pony rides, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

●  Lion’s Club petting zoo, noon to 4 p.m.

●  Crossroads Church Facepainting & Balloon Animals, 1-4 p.m.

●  The Foo Foo Dolls concert at the Bandshell, 2-4 p.m.

●  City Band concert, 8 p.m.

●  Fireworks, approximately 9:30 p.m.

The department is looking for volunteers to help out in the carnival. Free July 4th t-shirts for all volunteers.  

For carnival games, shifts are 8:45 a.m to 11:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Children should be accompanied by an adult to work at the carnival games. Those willing to volunteer at either shift should contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 608-329-2465. 

The City of Monroe Fireworks will be shot off at approximately 9:30 p.m. and will conclude with The Wisconsin Bank & Trust Sky Concert fireworks display. This is the 33rd year Wisconsin Bank & Trust has sponsored the fireworks display. Colony Brands, a Gold Sponsor, also donated to the fireworks.
